MoveZen is not a major player in the HOA management industry. Rather than become a dominant company in the industry we are pursuing a strategy of boutique, individual management of high-quality communities run by well-meaning and functional homeowners association boards. Our HOA management goals are not to enforce, but to inform and communicate to such a degree that heavy-handed approaches are rarely necessary.
For our select communities, we want to address a common problem in the industry regarding lack of transparency, and communication. MoveZen has always excelled at meeting our customers on the ground, and handling their problems with frank discussion and attacking challenges head-on. We’ve honed these skills over our nearly 20-year history as the manager of many large multi-family apartment complexes and single owned build-to-rent communities.
Why Do We Manage HOA’s?
Frankly, MoveZen’s priority and goals center around maximizing long-term housing investment returns. A goal that is not typically associated with homeowners association management companies. However, we are famous for our win-win strategies and preserving home values starts with amazing community. Once we established the foundation to pursue these win-wins the goal to become the best HOA management company in the industry became a passion.
HOA management was not a MoveZen priority until 2020 when unprecedented changes rocked the real estate industry. As staffing challenges rose to incredible heights we were forced to consider all possible avenues. To that point, traditional “management companies” typically operated under a staff model, rather than the famous “brokerage” model found in the sales industry. We had concerns about the brokerage model given the focused efficiency necessary in the management industry, but those concerns were dramatically eclipsed by the famous challenges employers face in the employment world these days.
With the rise of massive winner-take-all all corporations, funded by bottomless private equity funds our small family-owned company found it nearly impossible to compete on the post-COVID hiring battlefield, and we began to assess all possible options.
At the same time, unprecedented law interpretation and landmark legal cases upended the real estate sales brokerages in a way that has truly never been seen before. We realized at that time that large numbers of sales brokers would begin seeking more stable, consistent, long-term and less risky paths to put their skills to work and we were right.
We knew there would still be challenges, and we addressed them with the implementation of a powerhouse “technical support team”, and “consistency and detailed focused operations division” dedicated to ensuring a minimum standard of service regardless what challenges our on-the-ground brokers may face. While it may seem surprising, most brokerages offer almost no serious training or support for their contractors and MoveZen knew that would simply not work in such a complex and technical industry. By building an intricate team made up of varied skill sets we have been able to continue to deliver on our primary goals since day 1 of delivering exceptional results, with minimal headaches, consistently over time and place. This novel approach has created a win-win and rewarding team-like atmosphere for all our stakeholders.
In addition, many other fascinating changes have been underway, and we saw an opportunity to position MoveZen as a housing service needs leader. A one-stop shop company with an amazing, consistent reputation in every way that homeowners can lean on to preserve the value of what is most often their largest and most important assets by far. In an increasingly complex and fragmented industry, we realized that we could be a beacon of effectiveness for all homeowners, not just rental investors.
Now in 2025, MoveZen has built a powerhouse team of Independent Account Managers dedicated to “their” customers, and supported by the best technical and client management strategies in the industry. At that point, it was a waste of resources not to unlock their full potential, and apply our award-winning management strategies and customer communication so that they can deliver a foundational service for homeowners.
Clearly homeowners associations, being the foundation most housing service needs are built on was crucial to our goals. However, we wanted to be more than just a rule enforcer and middle-man. Now that we’ve merged our decades long technical expertise with community housing experts who care deeply about their communities and rely on them directly we feel we have developed an innovative and powerful solution for HOA boards who are looking for something more than just the basics.
Virtual Homeowners Association Management
MoveZen also offers nationwide virtual HOA management services. While your community manager may not be local they will still take a personal interest in your portfolio by virtue of our “brokerage” structure in which our community managers are not just hourly staff, but contractors who seek to grow their portfolio through referrals as a result of their unbelievable service and results.
